3 tips to help you define your Personal brand

Our personal style is not only how we express ourselves, it is also our visual business card, it is how we carry ourselves and our brand out into the world.  Your personal brand is about you as a “whole person” and how you present yourself to the world,  The outside has to match the inside. 

Knowing who you are is hugely important when determining how to present yourself as a brand, if you don’t know who you are and what your brand stands for how can you present yourself to a potential client or audience?

Just like any brand, your “packaging” should be purposeful, determined and express your individuality, allowing you to instantly communicate and reinforce your personal brand as a professional.  It has never to been so important to stand out from the crowd and your image needs to be consistent and coherent with who you are and what you a communicating, in sync with your personal desires and who you are. 

You have the power to turn heads and light up other people’s life.  It’s not about being beautiful, it’s about being confident and authentic, its about being you!  Finding your authentic personal style and tapping into your essence to create your personal brand making it easier to communicate and project who you really are and what you want to say to the world.

Here are 3 of my tips for defining your Personal brand

1. Be authentic

Embrace who you are, tap into your authenticity, be you! This is fundamental when communicating your brand, no one else is like you and that is your super power. 

Show your personality through your brand and this will create trust with your audience and ultimately inspiring them and creating more of a following and sales.

The authentic expressions of yourself is the key to embedding personal branding into your style and to make choices that are in alignment with the true you and your unique talents.

2. Get inspired

Tailor yourself for how you want to be seen.  Think of 3 words to describe your style, which you would also use to describe your brand, are you classic, edgy and bohemian?  What words describe who you are and what you want to project to the world?

Mine are classic, edgy and elegant, what I wear has all 3 of these qualities, you will also notice that my website has these qualities too, I carry these words through every element of my brand. It makes shopping and styling easier, not to mention social media, online marketing, workshops and events. Make sure your style statement compliments your business and your core values.

Determine what colours and image best represent those words, then develop your brand and personal style from that, your appearance and image are constantly expressing who you are.

3. Create a signature style

Style speaks loudly even before we have presented ourselves.  No matter your occupation or personality, you should have your own personal signature style. Every day you should follow your unique look, one that’s tied to your personal brand and goals. 

Your personal style is another way of expressing your uniqueness and individuality through clothes, it is a way of becoming more of who you are and your authentic self.

A few things to think about when creating your signature style: 

  • Dress for your body type
  • Consider your lifestyle 
  • Find someone that inspires you, a style icon

A consistent style along with your personal essence creates your personal brand.  I believe that your personal style plays right into your confidence and gives you power in all areas of your life.
